But teen vampire movie "Twilight", a favourite with young girls around the world, gave Ledger and "The Dark Knight" a run for the money.

"Twilight" beat "Sex and the City" as the best chick flick of 2008, while actor Robert Pattinson was voted breakout star of the year and Pattinson and his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart won the best on-screen couple with 41 percent of votes.

Twilight in list of top 10 gaffe-ridden films of the year

MovieMistakes.com has a list of the Top 10 movie mistakes of 2008 and Twilight came in at no. 4 with 45 mistakes.

Twilight:
  • Other: When Bella is in the hospital talking to Edward, he says that she 'hit her head pretty hard'. However, in the scene where Tyler's van nearly crushes Bella she does not actually hit her head at all.
  • Continuity: When Bella and Edward enter the restaurant she is wearing a jacket. Later it is said she left her jacket in her friend's car.
  • Continuity: After Edward saves Bella from being crushed by the van, while he is holding her, Bella's hair is outside of her jacket covering up her hood. When the shot changes her hair is tucked beneath the jacket and the hood is visible. When the shot changes back, her hair is covering up her hood.
  • Other: After Edward sparkles in the sun for the first time, and says the line, "This is the skin of a killer Bella," he leaves to go to another part of the forest. Bella then starts to follow him, but if you keep your eyes on Edward, he is still in view behind a tree.
  • Revealing: When Bella is driving the truck away after she says she's leaving Charlie to go to Phoenix; when Edward is going to get in the truck when he's on the side of it, you can tell its a stunt double. Click here to read more.

Vampires were hot in 2008

Not only did "Twilight" give us a look at the fabulous life of vampires, but it also made us see the snazzy fashion sense of the pale and undead!

If anything the "Twilight" phenomenon was the it craze of the year. Whether it was books, fashion, Euro it boys becoming the sexiest vampire ever or the actual movie, rabid fans (including myself) bared their fangs at anything and everything having to do with the story about lovelorn vampire romance - but it won't stop there. The sequel, "New Moon" is slated for release Nov. 2009 - so keep all that "Twilight" paraphernalia you collected from Hot Topic.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart: Nobody recognizes me

Kristen Stewart has revealed she rarely gets recognized out in public.

The 18-year-old Twilight star has found herself catapulted to instant fame following the success of the film in the States, with her face on everything from badges to bags and posters.

But she said: "I'm pretty low-profile. I can go out I don't ever get recognised by anybody."

She added she wasn't bothered about the attention surrounding the film.

"It's fine," she said. "On one hand you have to be wary now who wants to work with you, maybe you have a little bit more pull, now you're going get your movie made with me. But I only want to work with people that really inspire me and just have the right artistic thing going." Read More.
