Alex Meraz welcomes baby Somack

Alex Meraz's wife Kim gave birth to baby Somack right after their photoshoot with photographer friend Iscah Trujillo. Trujillo shares his experience with the couple to Celebuzz.

"With every pregnancy there is something very beautiful," Iscah tells Celebuzz. "And they're so good together."

"Alex is so happy as a father," says Iscah. "He loves it. And you can really see the love come through."

The photoshoot is reminiscent of Demi Moore's famous Vanity Fair shoot and Britney Spears on the cover of Allure.

It came about when Alex and Kim were visiting the New Mexico ranch Iscah shares with her husband Raoul (Alex's longtime friend and mentor). Alex and Iscah had collaborated on photo projects and decided to do a shoot with the eight-month pregnant Kim. "They were very comfortable with each other and where they're at," says Iscah (Celebuzz has added the black bars for all-ages viewing). Click here to read more.

Vampire Showdown: James Marsters On ‘Buffy’’s Spike Vs. ‘Twilight’’s Edward

MTV has an article about the Buffy's James Marsters who played Spike and our very own Robert Pattinson who plays dreamy vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight.

“I’m not aware of a split,” said Marsters diplomatically, explaining that there’s definitely crossover between “Buffy” and “Twilight” fans including he himself who has read the “Twilight” books with his family.

“My niece started ‘Twilight’ and she was convinced that Edward was based on Spike,” Marsters laughed, “I thought that was fabulous. I’m her guardian and that’s just fine if she thinks that way.”

But when it comes to showdown, Marsters had to admit that it’s going to be a pretty close fight.

“Hmmm..,” preceded a long pause as he seemed to really consider the situation in detail, “Edward seems to be a character who’s good at fighting but is trying to find the other areas of experience. Whereas Spike was addicted to fighting. That’s how he defined himself. I would think that Spike has a little more experience. He probably has a few fights up his belt.” Click here to read more.

Rob Pattinson shot his first scene for New Moon

Rob Pattinson shot his first scenes for New Moon yesterday according to Lainey Gossip. He's never been on the set which he mentioned during his movifone interview.

Nikki Reed managed to make her flight yesterday back to LA – chill, these are file photos – after spending a few days with her BFF Kristen Stewart in Vancouver and enjoying a couple of sleepovers with Robert Pattinson. Can’t blame him, she’s sexy as hell. Seems self assured – rare for someone so young. Love her.

Rob meanwhile shot his first scenes for New Moon yesterday. That’s right. Yesterday. He had not been on set up until that point. He’s been in Vancouver, he’s had some test photos taken, and wardrobe and makeup, and training, and rehearsals, but he had not been on set. Not a single frame was filmed until yesterday. Yesterday he was on set shooting with Kristen Stewart. More of the same throughout the week.

Twilight is Top-Selling Release of 2009

The Twilight DVD sold 5.6 million DVDs and Blu-Ray discs in its first week of sale this month according to Hollyscoop.com which makes it the Top-selling release of 2009 beating Madagascar: Escape to Africa.

We’ve all come to be familiar with the magnitude of Twilight. It began with the books, and quickly the movie became extremely popular. It topped both U.S. and U.K. box office charts last year, with estimated earnings of $376 million.

And now that it’s just been released on DVD, Twilight has become the biggest home release of the year. Not too surprising. The film sold 5.6 million DVDs and Blu-Ray discs in its first week of sale this month, overtaking Madagascar: Escape To Africa as the most popular release of 2009.

VideoBusiness.com reports, “A common yardstick used by studios is 20,000 units in first-week sales per $1 million at the box office, which would put the expectation for Twilight, with a $191 million box-office take, at 3.8 million units sold in its first week. At 5.2 million units, Twilight performed more like a $260 million theatrical release.”

Summit’s home entertainment chief, Steve Nickerson, attributed the title’s success in large part to its Saturday release, noting that many retailers would not have staged midnight parties for a standard Tuesday release. “These girls would rather have a community event. All we did was help facilitate what the fans would want.” Click here to read more.

The Robert Pattinson Phenomenon

Robert Pattinson is on the cover of Free Magazine's April issue. He talks about the Twilight phenomenon, the Twilight soundtrack and his Soho apartment in London.

Click thumbnail to enlarge.

Q: How do you feel about getting the role while they were casting so many actors? The fans of the book gathered 75.000 signatures so you won't play in the film. How did that make you feel?

RP: When you go to an audition to take a part which many consider something like the perfect boy, you have to expect that people will see this with suspicion. I expected such reactions. They do not affect me particularly.

Q: I believe there are many girls who'd wish to go to bed with you. How do you handle this?

RP: I don't know. I never have enough time to stay somewhere. I almost never meet people apart from reporters. But it's really very weird that young people, 10 year old fellows come and tell me: "can you bite me?"

Q: Speaking of biting who would like to bite the most?

RP: I don't think I want to bite anyone. I don't like it.

Q: Did you ever have lessons to manage your image? Your fans belong to the young –in terms of age- audience. Did anyone come to tell you how you should look like and behave?

RP: Yes. They sent me to a centre to learn how to manage my image in the media. I found it stupid. Probably I can do whatever I want. because I play a vampire on the big screen. I was supposed to have the image of the bad guy. It's funny. I remember when I went there and started questions to which I was joking, everybody there was annoyed. They accused me that I resist in learning to manage my image in the media.

Q: What's more important to you? To be an actor or musician?

RP: Both are equally important. Of course I believe that I take them relatively seriously. I mean that for example I haven't written music for some time now, since I don't want to be one more actor who played in a big movie and he released an album after. I want to make a really good album, but in a time where there won't be comparison with acting. Now I'm rethinking about it, I take both very seriously.

Q: What music do you want to make? Indie rock or folk?

RP: Folky rock.

Q: In the "Twilight" soundtrack you sing a song. Did the director asked you to write it for the film?

RP: Well I had written this long time ago. A crew member gave it to the director and suddenly she put it in a scene, without me knowing about. At first I didn't recognized that it was my song. I was happy and I suggested to put it anonymously, but because of the marketing they didn't let me. It was the first song I recorded officially.

Q: How was your life before getting the role of Edward in "Twilight"?

RP: I had this excellent apartment last year in Soho, where you could go up to the terrace and see the brilliant view. I was playing music and tried to record stuff. But then I filmed Little Ashes in Spain and everything sort of changed. It was the first time I made a research about something. I haven't seen the film yet but whether it's good or bad, one thing is sure that it changed the way I perceive acting and made me more disciplined in the way I see scripts and what I can succeed in acting.

Q: How did you pay for the big apartment in Soho?

RP: It wasn't big. In fact it was the smallest you've ever seen and it was almost empty. It only had two garden chairs and nothing else. No carpet, no central heating, not even a bathroom. I had to go back to my parents house to take a shower. It was perfect though. I felt I was living with a very bohemian lifestyle. I was sad when I left it.

Q: Why did you leave it?

RP: Because with the renovations in London the rent went up to 5.000 pounds., and I was in America for a whole year for the filming of Twilight. I was practically paying for a house my friends were living in. So I left it.

Q: Do you miss London?

RP: Yes. Very much. I was there two days ago and I realized with surprise how much I miss it.

Q: Where do you live now?

RP: Nowhere.

Q: You are a bohemian guy again?

RP: In a way.

Q: Are you looking forward to be a "vampire" for the next 10 years?

RP: Yes. Although it cannot last for so long, simply because vampires do not age, so I won't be able to do it for more than 2 years. It will be ridiculous.

Q: How many films have you signed in for?

RP: For three. The filming of New Moon has already started.

Q: What do you think makes people to be interested so much about vampires at this point?

RP: I don't know. It's something like a domino phenomenon. Something becomes successful and suddenly everybody films scripts vampires related.

Q: Do you like vampires?

RP: Yes. Of course I don't understand those who say they are fans of everything that has to do with vampires. I liked the first Nosferatu and things like that.

Q: Are you addicted to something?

RP: I was very addicted to Van Morrison.

Kristen Stewart: Some people think they know her, but ...

USA Today has a really great article about Kristen Stewart where she talks about Adventureland, New Moon and her parents.

"Movies like Adventureland remind you of a time my parents talk about when they were younger, when it seems like they were so much more independent," says Stewart, sitting in a beachside restaurant, her back to the ocean. "My dad was living on his own when he was 18. My mom was out (of the house) before she even graduated high school." Sometimes she wants to ask them: "God, do you guys realize —"

Her folks both got into show business, working behind the scenes. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a script supervisor, and her father, John, is a producer and stage manager. She also has an older brother, Cameron.

Parents today, she says, "are incredibly hands-on." Then she is quick to clarify: "Not that my parents are overbearing or anything. … Now it's a little different because I'm getting older, but a few years ago, if my parents didn't know where I was at a given time, that's sort of unacceptable. And it's very easy to track you down, considering."

It's not just ever-present parenting that makes growing up harder. It's your friends — and yourself, she says. Everyone is complicit in their own surveillance, especially young people, who chronicle their lives obsessively, maybe seeking validation, which is still no easier to find. Click here to read more.
