If you followed the whole Twilight phenomenon and watched every interview out there, then you probably know that before Rob Pattinson got the part as Edward Cullen, there was another actor being considered for the role. His name is Tyler Hoechlin. According to his IMDB page, Tyler was one of the two actors being considered for the role of Edward Cullen. Ofcourse, we all know that he lost to Rob Pattinson.

ok before i start. i swear i didnt know they were considering tyler for the part of edward. but anyway, after i saw the movie i was telling a lot of ppl that i wished they had used martin from 7th heaven for edward cullen. i didnt know his real name til today i was lookin for pics of him on google and i found this page so i went on...its just too funny, especially because i doubt anyone believes that i didnt actually know he was being considered hahaha!
I think rob is good, but if i had to pick another person it would be the dude from secret life that plays ricky
rob is perfect, tyler could not have handle that type of role.

When I read the Twilight books. Tyler looks alot like the guy I puctured in my head... But I like him a HELL of alot better as a werewolf then a Vampire.

Stephenie Meyer idea of Edward was Henry Cavill, but the time movies came out he was too old for the part.
1. Tyler turned down the offer from the franchise because at the time he had to choose between acting and playing pro baseball. He chose baseball.
2. Tyler wasn't being considered for the role of Edward (at least not to his knowledge it seems). He was going to be one of Edward's brothers if he had accepted the role (I'd assume Emmett and not Jasper based on his physical size).
Now that you mentioned it, i just realize that his face have the characteristic of an Edward Cullen. Woaah,, i wonder how it would be if he became Edward.. I mean, Rob was very cool but Tyler is was hotter.. if only Jacob is older than Bella, i think he should be Jacob, then the real competition between Edward and Jacob could start..
He didnt lose the role to rob he was playing soccer at the time and he turned it diwn so he wouldnt let his team down!..
After I watched Teen Wolf I came to the conclusion, that Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) looks almost exactly like Robert Pattinson. Funny, that they were considering for the role of Edward
