Twilight Saga breaks Aussie sales record

Stephen King recently said some harsh things about Stephenie Meyer's writing, saying that she can't write worth a darn. But who cares about that now when you smash records previously set by Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code." According to Nielsen Bookscan, Stephenie Meyer's Breaking dawn sold 19,800 copies each week during January. The previous record for January sales was held by The Da Vinci Code which sold 14,500 copies in the first month of 2005.

The four books in Meyer's series are currently sitting at the top of the bestseller chart, with Breaking Dawn in first place followed by Eclipse, New Moon and Twilight.

As of today, Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga has sold 42 million copies, with 1.4 million of those sales coming from Australia.
